Restoration process in Golden Triangle
How do we restore our furniture? How does it come all the way from its damaged, dirty and lot of times in very bad condition to almost a piece of art shape? It is thanks to our precise restoration process, years of experience and most of all, our experienced carpenters and painters.
Here are the process details:
-
We carefully clean and inspect the piece to decide, what needs to be done, in order to restore its original beauty and artistic look.
-
We remove and clean the hardware and metalwork.
-
Sometimes, when the furniture is very loose, or simply in a bad shape, it is necessary to take it apart. However, we really try to avoid it, we do not want to "remove the soul" of the particular piece. We want to preserve the original craftsmanship of carpenters, who created the masterpiece. Moreover, if one doesn't take the piece apart, it can be proven that it is an original antique.
-
We use sandpaper and special techniques to strip the old finish and make the piece smooth. This is a long term process, it can take up to couple days for one piece!
-
Our carpenters add any missing parts (mostly ornaments) and replace any broken parts. We use old wood, usually reclaimed teak to fabricate the missing pieces.
-
After all carpenter work is finished, it is time for the painters to do their job. We can apply various kinds of finishes, from plain wax, handbrush or spray to more difficult ones like French polish.
This was a very brief description of our finishing process, which has been tailored to perfection through the years.
